As soon as I read that, I had a scene from “The history of the world” by Mel Brooks flying through my head. If you’ve seen it, you’ll remember the bit where they’re being chased out of Rome by soldiers. If not, I’ll just tell you that they come across a pot forrest and roll up a bunch of plants into a gigantic joint, set it on fire, and the soldiers all inhale the smoke, get high and start to dance. It doesn’t sound funny, thought.

What -is it- with people???

Eating snails is a lot like eating mushrooms. No, not those kind of mushrooms!
I know you'll never ever believe me but snails are quite good. Maybe it just seems less "sluggy" in French - escargots...
As for the soldiers, i'm not so sure they thought the consequences were negative.
Too_lively - If I was going to eat a snail, I think I'd need one of those mushrooms first
Jazz - No, I won't. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever. You can say it all you want, but I refuse to believe you. So there.
yes the weirdest thing is definitely to want to eat them - YUCK. I have never had even the slightest desire to eat a snail!
Neither have I. They crawl across my porch every now and then. Just the thought... *shudder*
Consider it imagined! I don't care what it looks like-- if it tastes good, put it on my plate!
you can have my share, then.
Besides, I heard somewhere that the snails themselves don't actually taste like anything. It's the spices that give them taste. So I think I'll just eat the accessories.
You know, that slug picture is almost pretty. ;)
